1. Eligibility

If you have not reached the age at which you can enter into these Terms where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you and supervise your use of Lea. If you use Lea on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. What Lea does

Lea lets you maintain a local bookshelf, record reading progress and sessions, set local reminders, use a reading timer, search public book-information services, scan ISBN barcodes or book spines, add cover images, and optionally quiet notifications during a session on supported devices.

Lea is a personal productivity tool. It is not an emergency, safety, medical, health, or records-preservation service. Timers, reminders, quiet mode, book matches, statistics, and other outputs may be delayed, inaccurate, interrupted, or unavailable.

3. Your data and backups

Lea does not provide an account or Lea-operated cloud storage for your bookshelf, reading history, notes, settings, or cover photos. Core App data is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for protecting your device and making backups you consider necessary.

The App may let you export a backup through your device's share sheet and import a compatible backup. A backup can contain personal content, including your optional name, bookshelf, notes, and reading history. You are responsible for choosing a secure destination and recipient. We are not responsible for loss, disclosure, corruption, or incompatibility of local or exported data except to the extent responsibility cannot be excluded by law.

Our handling of information is described in the Lea Privacy Policy. Agreeing to these Terms does not itself grant consent to optional device permissions; those choices are requested separately where applicable.

4. Device permissions

Some features request camera, notification, or Android Do Not Disturb permission. Cover selection and backup import or export use the operating system's picker and share sheet rather than broad photo-library or file access. You decide whether to grant requested permissions and can revoke them in device settings. A feature may not work without its required permission.

If you allow Lea to control Android's interruption filter, Lea may silence notifications from other apps during a reading session. Check your device whenever receiving alerts is important. Operating-system behavior, alarms, priority contacts, device policies, and manufacturer settings may affect quiet mode.

5. License and acceptable use

Subject to these Terms and the applicable app-store rules, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control for personal, non-commercial use.

You may not:

• copy, sell, rent, sublicense, distribute, or commercially exploit the App except where applicable law expressly permits it;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App's source code except to the limited extent such a restriction is prohibited by law;
• bypass purchase, subscription, entitlement, security, rate-limit, or access controls;
• misuse third-party book services or use the App to violate their terms;
• interfere with the App or services used by it, introduce malicious code, or use automated means that place an unreasonable load on them;
• use the App unlawfully or infringe the rights of another person; or
• remove proprietary notices from the App.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of information and images you enter or select in Lea (Your Content). You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to use Your Content in the App.

Because Your Content ordinarily remains on your device, you do not grant us a general license to it. If you voluntarily send content to support, you grant us a limited license to use it only as necessary to respond, troubleshoot, protect the App, or comply with law.

7. Book information and third-party content

Book search results, covers, descriptions, authorship, publication details, categories, and other metadata may come from Google Books, Open Library, publishers, or other rights holders. That material belongs to its respective owners and may be incomplete, outdated, unavailable, or inaccurate. We do not guarantee a correct book or edition match. You should verify information that matters to you.

Your use of third-party services may also be subject to their terms and privacy policies. Lea is not sponsored or endorsed by those providers unless expressly stated.

8. Purchases, subscriptions, and trials

Lea may offer auto-renewing subscriptions, non-consumable purchases such as lifetime access, free trials, introductory offers, or free features. The products, prices, billing periods, trial terms, included features, and renewal details shown in the Apple App Store or Google Play purchase screen at the time of purchase form part of these Terms and control if they conflict with a general description here.

For an auto-renewing subscription:

• payment is charged by Apple or Google to the payment method associated with your store account after you confirm the purchase;
• the subscription renews automatically for the period shown at purchase unless you cancel before the store's stated renewal deadline;
• the store account may be charged for renewal within the period disclosed by the store before the current term ends;
• you can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings; deleting Lea does not cancel it; and
• if a trial or introductory offer converts to a paid subscription, you must cancel before the deadline shown by the store to avoid being charged.

Before you confirm a subscription, the purchase screen will display the subscription title, duration, price, billing frequency, renewal terms, what access is included, and links to these Terms and the Lea Privacy Policy. Review that information carefully before purchasing.

A lifetime purchase means access to the purchased Lea entitlement for the supported lifetime of the App; it does not guarantee that the App, every feature, or compatibility with future devices and operating systems will be available forever.

Purchases are processed by Apple or Google and verified with RevenueCat. Refunds, billing disputes, family sharing, and restoration are governed by the applicable store's rules and mandatory local law. Except where required by law, we cannot issue a store refund directly. You can use Restore purchases in Lea for eligible purchases associated with your store account.

We may change free features or the features included in future subscription periods. A material change will be handled in accordance with applicable law and store rules. Changes do not remove any non-waivable rights or entitlements already purchased.

9. Intellectual property

The App, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, and other materials supplied by us, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant only the limited right to use the App described above. No ownership rights are transferred to you.

Third-party software and content may be subject to separate licenses. Those licenses continue to apply to the relevant material.

10. Availability, updates, and changes

We may update, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue App features to improve Lea, address security or legal requirements, respond to third-party service changes, or for business reasons. We do not promise that the App will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every device or operating-system version.

You are responsible for installing available updates. An older version may stop working if an app store, operating system, or required provider changes or withdraws support.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lea and all information and services made available through it are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, and uninterrupted availability.

We do not warrant that reminders or quiet mode will activate or deactivate at a particular time, that notifications from other apps will be silenced, that a scanned or searched book will be correctly identified, that statistics will be error-free, or that local data will never be lost or corrupted.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or opportunities arising from or related to Lea.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising from or related to the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for Lea during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) EUR 50.

These exclusions and limits do not apply where prohibited by law, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or breach of mandatory consumer rights.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Lea at any time by deleting the App. Deleting the App does not automatically cancel an active subscription.

We may terminate the license granted by these Terms if you materially breach them. Upon termination, you must stop using the App. Sections intended by their nature to survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions—will survive.

Termination does not affect rights or obligations already accrued or any rights that cannot be excluded by law.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections under the law of your habitual residence, and you may bring a claim in any court available to you under applicable consumer law.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact support@leareads.com and describe the issue so we can try to resolve it informally.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to Lea, our providers, or the law. We will update the date above and provide any additional notice required by law. If a material change requires consent, we will request it. Your continued use after an effective update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

16. Apple-specific terms

If you obtained Lea through Apple's App Store, the following also applies:

• these Terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for the App or its content;
• the license is limited to use on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and applicable Family Sharing or volume-purchasing rules;
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App;
• if the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, as required by its rules; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation;
• we, not Apple, are responsible for addressing claims relating to the App, including product-liability, legal-compliance, and consumer-protection claims;
• we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and resolving claims that the App infringes a third party's intellectual-property rights;
• you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism and are not listed on a U.S. Government prohibited or restricted-party list;
• you must comply with applicable third-party agreement terms when using the App; and
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce these Apple-specific terms against you.
